Carlo Lorenzini, better known by his pen name Carlo Collodi (1826 - 1890) was an Italian children's writer known for the world-renowned fairy tale novel The Adventures of Pinocchio. The great success of his novel The Adventures of Pinocchio came not until after his death. The first story about Pinocchio appeared on July 7, 1881 in the new children's magazine Giornale per i bambini in Rome.
